A bit about me

As a child, I was fascinated by all the invertebrates living in the soil and beneath rocks. Now, I work to reveal complex soil ecosystems through applied research and macrophotography.

With an academic background in biology and land restoration to woodland, I study the biological diversity and associated functions of forest soils. More information on my various research projects is available on my research page. In my spare time, I complement my scientific interests by getting out into nature with my macrophotography camera, gathering new insights into the ecologies of soil creatures, and generating wonderful images to communicate soil biodiversity to wider audiences. A selection of my favourite macro photographs and observations on various soil organisms is available on my macrophotography page.
